La CaletaThe old fishing village
At the quiet northern end of the resort, La Caleta still has the feel of a small harbour. Walk there along the promenade in the late afternoon and stay for fresh fish by the water as the sun goes down.
Wild beachPlaya de Diego Hernández
No road, no sunbeds, no shops. A rough coastal path from the edge of La Caleta leads to one of the last unspoilt coves on this coast. Wear proper shoes, take water and shade. Clothing optional.
Adeje townThe historic centre up the hill
A few kilometres inland, the old town has the church of Santa Úrsula, the 16th-century Casa Fuerte and local bars where prices feel very different from the coast. It is often a few degrees cooler too.
Callao SalvajeA quieter sunset
West of La Caleta, Callao Salvaje and Playa Paraíso sit higher above the sea. The views over the Atlantic to La Gomera are wide, and the evenings are calm compared with the busy promenade.
On footThe whole coast is walkable
The seafront promenade links La Caleta, El Duque, Fañabé, Torviscas and Puerto Colón. It is flat and lit at night, so you can leave the car and walk from beach to beach.
Weather tipCloud up the hill, sun on the beach
When it looks grey from your balcony in the hills, the coast is often bright. Check the area buttons in the weather box above before you change your plans.
